Tips for Creating a Mailing List for Selling Sites
Posted by Pedro in Internet Marketing on March 3, 2010
If you’re trying to set up a website flipping business, creating a mailing list is an effective way to gain more notice. Just like any online business, you’re going to have competition and standing out is important. Having a website makes you look like a dedicated pro in the business and might get you some subscribers who are interested in knowing what sites you’re currently offering for sale or working on.
So what really is a mailing list and how does it work? You start off with having your own page and then it’s all a matter of offering a mailing list to those who drop by your page. If someone opts to subscribe to your feeds, they will be added to the list and will then get emails on your current offerings, and will be updated on any projects you’re working on. Everything is automatic so once the system is set up, you won’t even need to do anything else.
Creating a mailing list is quite easy, but it does require you to make your own page. The page should be easily accessible, so keep the name short and sweet. You also want to have a professional looking page so potential subscribers aren’t turned off. If you keep the site simple, you can just have one landing page with all your information and a mailing list sign up right there on page one. If you want to add a section about you or a section about you previous sales, that is a great idea as well.
Having a mailing list may seem like an unnecessary move to those who have not experienced firsthand the advantages of having one. However, as you go along and find yourself making more sales and interacting with more clients, you’ll find that a mailing list may just be the thing to boost your website flipping business even more. Take for example if you have a business that was able to purchase a site from you before. If the transaction went without a hitch, and if that company was satisfied with what they got for their money, wouldn’t you be the first source they would turn to if they think of another site again? Keeping them updated with what sites you have to offer would ensure that you would stay on top of their list of sources.
If you’re just looking to make a few dollars every month, then having a mailing list wouldn’t be worth all that trouble. But if you want to make a mark in this business, you would want to use every marketing strategy you can. You’ll want to establish yourself as a credible player, and having a solid client base is the first step in doing that. By creating a mailing list, you can upgrade your reliability as a source, bringing you closer to the big league and consequently, ringing in more sales for you.
