Today I'm going to talk about some Do's and Don'ts of website design. As a website designer in NH, this is one subject I'm passionate about. So please, bear with me if I start to ramble on a bit. I want to share as much useful website design information as possible (without boring you to death) but when it comes to the topic of designing websites, I could talk for hours.
So let's begin…
For starters, I believe your website design should represent your personal or business philosophy, your values, and the overall “look and feel” of who you and your company are (or who you want to be)
When people see your website for the first time, they're going to get an instant impression of you and your business… What do you want them to see?
Take my latest website for example (you can check it out by following the link at the end of this article)… When I designed this website, I wanted it to be simple, crisp, and elegant. The black background represents authority. And it also takes away some of the eye strain you might get, from looking at a bright white monitor, while trying to read what's in front of you.
What values does it represent..? The values of authority, or someone who knows what they're doing. It also shows my concern for your comfort (reduced eye strain while you're reading)
Then, I wanted to give you something a bit more entertaining to look at, so I added a few flash banners to the pages.
What's the philosophy behind this..? To give you quality information, from the words you're reading, but not bore you with a static website design that has nothing but words on the page.
Finally, I put all the main navigation links in the same place on every page (Left hand side of page) This is so you'll know exactly where to find the links, no matter which page you're on.
I also sprinkled a few links throughout the text, so if you want more information about something, you can click on the link, and move on to whatever you're interested in.
I find it hard to believe, but apparently there are web designers out there that have never heard of Jacob Nielsen's “F pattern.” I guess an even older term, “the fold” must be unknown to some of them also. I say this because my acquaintance's website had fewer than seven words above the fold and not a single sentence in the F pattern–or anywhere else above the fold.
Keeping your website easy to navigate is one of the most important aspects of a good website design. If your visitors get confused looking for something on your website, they're going to click away from your site and look somewhere else.
We live in an attention deficit society, and most people want instant results from their inquiries. If you don't give it to them, they're going to look elsewhere.
You also need a website design that will easily allow the search engines to navigate your website, so they can index it in their search listings. (You do want your website to show up in the search engines, don't you?)
But what about Flash websites?
It's true… Flash websites represent some of the latest technology in website design… They move and flow, and they can make your visitors say “WOW, NEAT WEBSITE”.
But full flash websites are difficult for search engines to index, because search engines only read HTML code and page text. If the search engines can't tell what your website is about, they'll have a difficult time indexing your website for your particular keywords.
I do like the look of Flash websites, and if you'd like me to build you one, then we also need to talk about off page website promotion. (ways to get actual people to your website, while we're waiting for the search engines to figure out where to index your website)
Now don't get me wrong… Big flashy websites are a designers dream. It gives us a chance to really get creative with flash animations, dynamic pop up windows, and auto loading video clips. but they can often be very confusing to navigate, and they can also be very distracting to your visitors.
If your visitors get too distracted by all the flash animations, they will often get confused or frustrated, and possibly even irritated. Remember… irritating your website visitors is one of the quickest ways to get them to leave your website in a hurry.
How about pure CSS websites?
CSS website designs are another up and coming website technology. There are many CSS evangelists who would have you believe it's the only way to go.
CSS websites use an external file (CSS file), instead of tables, for the look of your website layout. Many people believe they give a more consistent look for a website when viewed through different web browsers (Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari, etc.) They also tend to load a bit faster due to the reduced code on each individual page.
But CSS websites also have their limitations. In particular, when it comes to centering certain fonts and images on the page.
Besides… table layouts, when done properly, will also give you a consistent look through all major web browsers.
CSS websites also allow you to globally change the look of your website by editing a single file instead of changing each page individually. This is great if you want to continually make changes to your website design, but if you already have a website design you're happy with, then this point isn't really necessary. Also, if you want to have different headers, or fonts, or images, on different pages, then you'll need to access each page of your website one-at-a-time anyway.
More free soul food recipes are also appealing to the health conscious crowd as well. For example, you'll find more recipes getting healthier by eliminating salt, animal fats and deep-frying. Now you'll find more dishes baked, sautéed, steamed and grilled to not only preserve flavor but vitamins and nutrients as well.With the number of changes taking place on many southern food sites, they'll need more high tech ways to deliver content than ever before. I recently came across three videos by three different attorneys, all in the same town, produced by the same video company. These three attorneys compete with each other for clients. How do I know? Because like me, they also practice medical malpractice and personal injury law here in New York.

Look for viewers who continually rate content of article videos submitted to a specific channel by posting feed back on online videos. Also find out who is uploading articles at a particular channel. These folks are most likely reviewing video content to send to their followers. You can also find out who the video opinion leaders are by joining groups and forums that are specific to a certain channel. The leaders will be the ones responding and offering tips on how to improve your video articles.
The quality of the video was excellent- no complaint there. But the same question and the same answers for each of these competing lawyers? Give me a break. I'll bet you anything that this video company didn't tell these lawyers that they'd be creating the exact same videos for their competitors. That's why it's so important that when you hire a video production company to create your attorney videos you must ask whether these videos are custom created for you and only you. Even if there are competing attorneys using the same video company, ask your video producer to make sure you're different.
If your producer instead asks YOU how you're different from your competitors, I'd suggest it's time to look for another video producer. Your producer should be able to help you distinguish yourself from everyone else

RSS is an acronym for “Rich Site Summary” or “Really Simple Syndication.” RSS is basically a feed which you can make available to users that automatically lists the updated content from your website or blog. Audio book online could be used as a good idea to begin your own business because it has a good prospect in this modern era. This happens because there are more and more person who tend to being accustomed in applying audio books. Do you want to know what you actually need to start your own streaming radio station? Here we go…the truth of what you need:
- Your computer
- Some music
- WinAmp
- Broadcast scheduling software with encoders
- Mic
- VPS Hosting account
- Patience and lots of it
Since you already own you computer we can say that you can now start your own station for about $200.00. Yes, it is a far cry from the estimated $3000.00 the other list was telling that you needed. Doesn't it make you want to punch a wall?
We'll start at the beginning of the list and explain what it means or how you can get it for cheap or free.
Though, there is a lot going for someone who is industrious so that opening an audio book online store will still make good sense.
In reality, Audible is known as the major player in the book online segment and it earns more than an estimated eighty million dollars yearly. Nonetheless, big as they may be there is still enough space for small players to reap benefits and earn good profits from starting their book stores.
Broadcast scheduling software was the biggest pain in the butt to research. There's so much competition out there and a lot of crap to sift through before you hit the golden nuggets of scheduling software. But for the cost, stay with a low budget mic that you can upgrade easilty at a later date. Most start-up streaming stations don't even have a DJ, so the mic might be just an afterthought. Buy what your budget can afford, any more than that and you've wasted your money.
To reach a great success with your book online store, you need to make it as complete as you possibly could. There are various customers that like to collect audio books and to re-read their audio books, so that you need to consider selling the audio books online at discounted rates. If you do not have the skills to do these things they can be easily outsourced cheaply at freelancing sites like Getafreelancer.com and eLance.com.
Not all websites will sell and other site's selling price will be determined to a large degree by what niche the site is in and how much the site is making or could reliably make and how much traffic the site is receiving as well

From your keyword research have your top 5 or 10 keyword phrases ready to use these in your link anchor text

- press releases (PRWeb.com)
- social media outlets (FaceBook, Linked In)
- bookmarking sites (Digg, Reddit, Furl)
- Forums (niche forums)
If time is limited (isn't it always!) pick one or two from the list and really work at it. Focus on those 1 or 2 areas and build up an expertise in them. (For me I find blogging gives the best return ). The key it to focus… otherwise you can spread yourself too thin and get no appreciable results from anything

This method of segmentation allows you to pay attention to a particular country as well as its culture and is a great way to elicit a favorable response from your subscribers. Of course, faulty targeting would result in a low response. Also if you send the identical email message to a number of countries at one time, this could also lead to a poor response.

So you’re thinking of building yourself a website. Before you even start to think about codes, and all the other stuff that goes into putting a site together, it’s a good idea to have some sort of picture in mind as to what you want to achieve; with some sort of goal in mind you’ll find it easier to get your site off the ground.

Well it helps heaps if you take a look around the web and explore other people’s sites and what they have done with theirs.
I’m pretty sure that you have surfed the web already, but did you really take the time to really examine the types of websites in existence? Maybe you were just browsing around in cyberspace, looking for games, downloads, free stuff etc. Before you go any further in your adventure perhaps it might be an idea if you were to take a look around now. Have some sort of aim in mind, and perhaps even take a few notes about the amazing stuff that you are sure to stumble on to. It may well surprise you. You’ll come up with ideas that you’d never even thought of.
To start with just take a look at the basic design of some sites. Notice where the images are placed coupled with the position of the text. I’m sure you’re getting a few interesting ideas already. See how the navigation bars are set up. Some are just made up of text while others go for buttons in all shapes, sizes and colours. The choices of different affects that can be achieved are endless. Follow the navigation bars by clicking on them, notice where they take you to. Doing this will give you an some idea of how sites are put together.
Number 2: The Secret Of Domain Names: Be careful about your domain name selection. When I build my own web site, this is very important. Make sure to select a domain name that tells people what your site is all about. If you’re going to be selling “blue bananas” from your site, be sure that you have “bluebananas” in your domain name.
This way, the search engines as well as potential visitors will know what your website is all about. Also, be sure to stick with a .com domain name extension. These are the most highly respected domain name extensions on the Internet.

Today I’m going to talk about some Do’s and Don’ts of website design. As a website designer in NH, this is one subject I’m passionate about. So please, bear with me if I start to ramble on a bit. I want to share as much useful website design information as possible (without boring you to death) but when it comes to the topic of designing websites, I could talk for hours.
So let’s begin…
For starters, I believe your website design should represent your personal or business philosophy, your values, and the overall “look and feel” of who you and your company are (or who you want to be)
When people see your website for the first time, they’re going to get an instant impression of you and your business… What do you want them to see?
Take my latest website for example (you can check it out by following the link at the end of this article)… When I designed this website, I wanted it to be simple, crisp, and elegant. The black background represents authority. And it also takes away some of the eye strain you might get, from looking at a bright white monitor, while trying to read what’s in front of you.
What values does it represent..? The values of authority, or someone who knows what they’re doing. It also shows my concern for your comfort (reduced eye strain while you’re reading)
Then, I wanted to give you something a bit more entertaining to look at, so I added a few flash banners to the pages.
What’s the philosophy behind this..? To give you quality information, from the words you’re reading, but not bore you with a static website design that has nothing but words on the page.
Finally, I put all the main navigation links in the same place on every page (Left hand side of page) This is so you’ll know exactly where to find the links, no matter which page you’re on.
I also sprinkled a few links throughout the text, so if you want more information about something, you can click on the link, and move on to whatever you’re interested in.
So, what do you want to impress your website visitors with?
Do you want a corporate presence that’s all business..? Or do you want a website design that shows you’re an honest person, with hometown values (and not just a faceless corporation)..? Or perhaps you want a website design that shows people you’re a fun loving person, with a sense of humor..? Maybe you just want a website to showcase your hobbies, talents, or personal opinions..?
There are nearly as many answers to this question as there are people reading this page right now.
My main philosophy is to keep your website design simple.
There are some large corporate websites on the internet that are very complex (and often very confusing to navigate) and most of the visitors they receive, click away without buying anything.
This is fine, if you have hundreds of thousands of dollars to spend, driving huge amounts of traffic to your website. (If 10,000 people a day are visiting your site, you don’t mind when only 1 out of every 200 actually make a purchase. You’ll still make 50 sales a day)
But for us mere mortals, who only see a few hundred visitors a day, we’d much rather have a higher rate of conversion from our websites.
You also don’t want to make your website design too cluttered or too distracting. Tons of animated pictures or flashing banners may look cool, but your visitors will become distracted, and possibly forget why they came to your site in the first place.
Also, too many moving images makes your website load much slower, so some visitors may click away before they ever see your website pages at all (No one wants to grow old waiting for a website to load)
Pop up windows are another thing… One pop up is O.K. (to present a special offer or an email sign up form). But you don’t want more than one on any page, and make sure your visitors can close it immediately if they want to.
Those pop up windows that block out part of the page, and won’t let you close them for a certain amount of time, only irritate most people. And if you irritate your visitors… they’re going to click away from your website, and never come back.
So when your thinking about what kind of website design you’d like, keep in mind who your building your web presence for… your visitors.
To make things worse, instead of explanatory text in what would be the second horizontal line of the “F,” there was a flashing video that told me absolutely nothing about my acquaintance’s business–I’m still not sure what he does–and will almost certainly drive customers away.
A video demonstration will save you the trouble, frustration and cost of throwing out a dish that told you to sauté instead of fry. An experts cooking video can help you eliminate a mistake in cooking terms that have caused many ruined dishes to be thrown out or given to the dog.
More free soul food recipes are also appealing to the health conscious crowd as well. For example, you’ll find more recipes getting healthier by eliminating salt, animal fats and deep-frying. Now you’ll find more dishes baked, sautéed, steamed and grilled to not only preserve flavor but vitamins and nutrients as well.With the number of changes taking place on many southern food sites, they’ll need more high tech ways to deliver content than ever before.
