PLR stands for private label rights, and they allow you to republish them as you see fit and require no acknowledgement to the original author.
You can find PLR articles all over the net, some are offered for sale as a bundle, others you can get as a bonus for buying software or services, some you can get for free. Now, most of these will do you no good to just publish as is. They might have been used hundreds, or even thousands of times by other marketers. Occasionally you get lucky and they have never been used. The ones that have very little use or never been used are great for rewriting and submission to an article directory.
What I usually do is to take the 2 sentences of the article and one at a time, paste them into Google and search, with quotes around the sentence so it has to be an exact match. If nothing comes up - Bingo! you now have an article that can be used with no re-writing should you choose as the search engine does not have a record of its use. Should a lot of results come back, you will need to make sure you do a good job of rewriting. If a lot of results come on the screen, pass on that article and find another. I usually rewrite sentence by sentence so I have a totally new article, but it closely resembles the old article in topic and flow. Even if you have to rewrite, its way faster most of the time than creating an entirely new article, unless you happen to be an expert on the topic of the article. If that was the result, most people would have no need for using PLR articles.
Where the use of PLR articles is most handy, is in the creation of niche sites, such as fly fishing, composting, glass blowing or other topic which interests you, but you are by no means an expert or may know nothing about. Someone else has given you a jump start with an article which you can insert your link into and publish, whether it needs to be rewritten or not. I usually publish these types of articles to Article Friendly article directory sites, there are thousands of them out there. Much like Article Ranks it is more of a “blog network” style article marketing service which means basically that your articles go up on lots of blogs all over the internet. Often I believe it can be much better to have your articles on blogs instead of on article directories.
It’s important to know that these tools are more for building up links than for getting direct traffic. These article marketing services let you build a lot of backlinks with a single article and with time the links add up and can give you great SERPS for money making search terms.
